How many people do you know who have repaired
In Response To: Re: Repairing a broken chip ()

a chip? You should know it is heavily discouraged in the hobby. You can find huge threads about it in the archives if you care to search. The first problem is unscrupulous sellers who don't reveal the repair. The second problem is that even if you are honest and perfectly upfront, you don't know what the next owner will do, or the owner after that. It's also possible that an owner dies and when his belongings are sold or distributed, the next owner has no idea. Eventually, a repaired chip can be sold to someone who has no idea. Repair techniques can also be used to fabricate expensive chips. When you don't know if chips are authentic or if their condition is authentic, the value goes out of every chip. It's a slippery slope that can be a disaster for the hobby.
