Keeping records of prices paid for chips?

Do you all keep a record of what you have paid for every single chip?

I was initially thinking it's probably a good idea in case I want to trade or sell a chip later.
On the other hand, since the market changes and dictates pricing, is it even worth it to keep track of?
I mean, no matter what I paid for a chip, if I decide a year from now that I no longer want it it's the market that dictates what I could get back on a trade or sale.

If you think it is still good practice to keep a record of this, what are you using? Just an excel spreadsheet?
Does the chip collecting software allow you to keep track of what you paid for chips?

Thanks for your help in advance!
