Jim, I think if you study most stages of an older

~~~ worn Paulson-type litho inlay you'll be able to visualize the manufacturing process, somewhat... and become aware of how the finished chip breaks down... and I find the most delicate area of this type manufacture is at the circumference of the inlay protection which you'll see mentioned in most "chip cleaning" threads thru the years... where in that hairline fracture water will easilly seep in under the protective film casusing the inlay to either pop completely or simply its protective area to lift and flake off.
