That's changed now in MS...

Legislature changed the law allowing former riverboat casinos to be land based. Example: Island View in Gulfport was on Gulf Of Mexico. It's now across the highway. Also, Grand Casino, Biloxi, is located across Hwy. 90 -- well off the water. Even casinos in Tunica area have been given variances allowing them to move inland so they can avoid Spring flooding of the Mississippi River. All legislators are more than willing to change the rules after they saw the revenues casinos generate for state coffers. The newest casino on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Magaritaville is land-based instead of sitting on a barge.
