In Response To: UV security markings ()

~~~ first-hand info in your UV notes:
The first person to ever first discover and introduce the UV markings on casino chips to collectors -- and write the first article of his findings in our club magazine was a German National; Reginald Kelpie (living in Germany), who was a well-known dice collector I traded with in the early-1990s. I would send him Nevada dice and he would balance the trade with sending me German chips (jetons)... and, one nite, while inspecting his dice he ran his light over some of the chips that just happened to be in his work area and spoted the markings, instantly, and informed me of his find in his next letter and later composed his article for our magazine showing the examples he found. I often wonder how long it would have taken for the chip-collecting community to learn of this security measure by the manufacturer... and when and if they would have told us without Reginald finding them, especially when there wasn't any reason for us to inspect our chips with a blacklite at the time.... grin
