There's a huge series of different denoms from ~~~

~~~ 1/4 gourde, 8 Gourdes, 16 Gourdes and various Doublon; all metal and each having a beautiful, different reverse depicting palms, cotton, rum and anchors. Some are even dated 1825 along with "Cercle du Commerce de la Pointe-a-Pitre"
Some historians do not believe the pieces were used for gambling in a gambling establishment, but what else would "Commerce Cercle [club]" mean, with all those denominations...! grin
The pieces have been well illustrated thru the years and perhaps they're floating around on the web as well. I'll check.
If anyone has a copy of Metal Jetons of Clubs and Casinos of France and the Colonies, they can see the illutrations... Ray Byrne's work illustrates them well, too, as does Bob Lyall. Both works were first called to my attention years ago by John Genualdi.
No. Sorry. Too small, fuzzy and B&W to show well.
