...is that, even if we have clear documentation that they were used at a particular location, it doesn't mean all generics of that design were used at that location. In these cases, to know you have a chip "from" that location, you need to know the provenance of that specific chip. It's always better to have more information than less, but we need to be careful how that information is used.

Note that I don't recommend documenting the source of a chip on the chip using a Sharpie.
