The insert description I used in my post is from page 11 of Harvey's Guide by Howdy Herz... where the author writes: "The overall body of a chip is often called a 'slug.' Sometimes multiple colors are used in the body of the gaming chip slug. When this occurs, the slug is described as being cut into 'pie' shapes..."

The guide is "a must read" in my opinion.
