Re: Thanks Chris. I do believe there is interest..

Most of the casinos are slots and bingo. I can say that two or three of the legal casinos have added table games of the electronic type and a couple have live tables although this is a grey area. The illegal clubs tend to use generic chips and I don't find them interesting enough to collect.

It appears that the owners of the Casino Royale in Mexico did not have the permits to operate and had actually taken out an injunction (amparo in Spanish) to prevent closure and continue operating. The owners are relatives of ex mayors and other high level functionaries Monterrey.

On Thursday afternoon, nine men pulled up to the casino in three SUVs and a Mini Cooper, took out gas cans and poured the gasoline around the entrance and lobby area. They set fire to the place and told the people to get out that it was a problem they had with the owners and not the patrons. However, shots were apparently fired and the people hid in the offices and behind the slot machines. Many went to the emergency exit but apparently it was locked and by this time the flames had engulfed the front of the casino and the people couldn't get out. Most of the dead died from smoke inhalation.
The politicians are passing the buck and with 2012 being an election year there is a lot of blame going around.

Mexico's muckraking magazine has already published a special edition covering the incident and it is a real cess pool.

This situation is a little different to most of the other narco violence in that most of the victims are middle or upper class and it won't disappear overnight.
