The answer is...

A regular "envelope", even if it contains a rigid object, can be up to 6 1/8" x 11 1/2". It also needs to be under 1/4 " thick. Shipping one of these at envelope rate for a 3 oz package is $1.04. If you let them convince you that it is a Large envelope, or worse yet a parcel, you will pay a LOT MORE.
