Coins are dated as a tracking device. Throughout modern history coins have been dated. Ancient coins are dated by the figure heads and symbols on the coins. As for casino chips very few casinos that I know of date the chips. The Orleans has a series of one dollar chips you can collect by date and I think it is interesting. It is possible by dating and wear to see how long a chip will be an effective gaming tool. When casino tokens became the replacement of silver dollars most were dated and this is a very good tool for dating the casinos. In My opinion the overlooked and much under rated tokens tell more about casinos than a casino chip does.
