As a born & bred Rhode Islander

I can tell you that several "casinos" back east never did any gambling. The Tennis Hall of Fame, for instance, is housed in the old Newport Casino. Also, I think a major dance venue ( used for weddings, proms, etc.) called Rhodes on the Pawtuxet also carried the moniker "casino" at one time.
