Lately I've been bidding on old letter openers with celluloid handles. Here is my most recent purchase:

Now one thing that every seller does is wrap the opener so that the point of the opener doesn't perforate the package (usually the opener is shipped either in a box or a large padded envelope). Well, today I received what looked like a Christmas card. The envelope contained a plastic sleeve (like what would be used to ship currancy). Needless to say the sleeve was empty while the top of the envelop was sliced open.

Kind of ironic that the letter opener shipped to me opened the letter in which it was shipped.

There's $23 down the proverbial drain.
