Re: Ruben, is that the Merchants Club

I'm not Ruben. grin
Yes it is the Merchants Club.
It is a big place. Had a big Bingo hall in it. I once won of those long shot bingos there, in 47 numbers. About 1963.
Pre 1961 they had full scale gambling.
Ran by brothers Martin Miller and Joe Berman along with Red Masterson for the Cleveland Syndicate. Red burned the Beverly Hills down when Glenn Schmidt refused to turn it over to Cleveland. Killed the caretaker/night watchman's young daughter.

At the time I won the big Bingo, I was running my own Bingo in the Sportsmans club. Martin walked up and ask me, "Is business slow down the street." grin

Martin was a friend and is the person that got me started collecting chips about 1962. He also taught me how to not be cheated in poker games. grin
He was married to Nicki Ball, who became the subject of the book Syndicate Wife, ater she was murdered at the Desert Inn in Las Vegas.

Probably more than you wanted to know, I guess I was in the typing mood. grin
