I don't have a lot of experience with specifically what you want. But as an alternative suggestion you might just look at an ipod and a dock. If you've already got an ipod it will cost you less than $100 for a nice set of ipod dock speakers (such as the iHome or one of the other alternatives). It gives you much more flexibility to use the unit for other uses. If you've already got a different music player, even a small set of inexpensive speakers will do. Let the player itself do the work of delivering the music.
