College football is the other thing.
I must have heard the talking heads say a dozen times in the past 2 weeks how Florida is the best team in the country.
WHAT ?????
2 Words... Mississippi Rebels
Those 2 words represent a mediocre 6-4 unranked team who came into Floridas House and beat them in the Swamp.
Lets examine exactly who Florida did beat to make people believe they are the best team in the country.
1) LSU - This team is a shell of what they were in years past. Heck they had to rally against Troy to get a win yesterday. Can anyone tell me where Troy even is? LSU already has 3 losses this year and has lost to EVERY ranked team they played (Unless you consider Auburn with 6 losses a ranked team) - Currently rated 18 in BCS
2) Georgia - Not sure why everyone thought Georgia is such a great team. Like LSU they have been beaten by every Ranked team they played (Unless you consider the huge win over Vanderbilt who is now 6-4) - Currently Rated 11 in BCS
3) South Carolina - Please, this team is 4-4 in conference, how did they ever get ranked 24th in the country. - Currently not rated in BCS
Now lets look at a team like Texas who never gets the respect they deserve and will never make it to the BCS championship like Florida and Oklahoma probably will.
Only loss is to Texas tech on a last second score. Tech is undefeated and currently rated #2 in the country (Unlike Ole Miss who is currently and never even close to ever being ranked).
Wins against:
Oklahoma - On the road when Oklahoma was rated #1 at the time - Oklahomas only loss was to Texas. They have a current BCS ranking of 5
Oklahoma State - ONLY Loss this year to Texas and Texas Tech - Current BCS Ranking of 12
Missouri - Only 2 losses this year were to Texas and Oklahoma State - Current BCS Ranking of 13
So when Florida beats Alabama, which I am pretty sure will happen as Alabama is not as good as a lot of people seem to believe they will rocket themselves past Texas and into the National championship game.
I also believe Oklahoma will beat Tech at home and they will also leap frog Texas.
So this means that Florida, a team that has a loss at home to an unranked Ole Miss and fewer top 10 wins than Texas will go to a championship when the better team will not.
And so ends the Football B*tch for the day. Its a darn shame that the media is so biased towards Tebow and Florida that the better team wont even play for the championship.
There was a very nice quote that Mack Brown made in todays paper. He said he is worried about all these coaches leaving their stars in late in games that have already been won just to get "Style Points" He said he hopes the league looks at this and really works on its sportsmanship. For Mack, he simply will not leave his kids on the field to get hurt late in games just so they can win a Heisman.
