On another occassion I was a guest of the Exalted Ruler ... there was a fellow, let's call him "Bob" ... who owned a local dry cleaners store in town who had applied for Lodge membership and was being considered that night.

Well; the featured local attraction on that "boys night out" was an 'exotic dancer'. The new applicant, Bob; who was eager to impress his future Elks buddies, got caught up in the moment after consuming quite a few alcoholic beverages and got carried away on stage with the dancer ... and was racously encouraged on by those Elks in the audience.

When the time came for the vote ... the Elks membership in attendance ... who moments before were hooting and hollering and cheering ... not only overwhelmingly turned down his application ... but a few of them were overhead to say that they would not permit their wives to patronize Bob's dry cleaner store any more.
