"I have run across these so many times...."

I agree. However, I dont agree that the people selling them have no clue they are not real.
If someone 'finds' a $500 denominated chip you would/should expect them to do a modicum of research first and if they think it is real you wouldnt expect them to start at $9.99.

Of course my "BS & lies gets sellers a long way" comment was a flippant one aimed at all such sellers.
Ive lost count of the times Ive emailed sellers of these chips who advertised them as real, including links to the Borland articles, received "thanks for the info" responses or no response at all, only to find they list the same thing again a few weeks later. grin

You say he is only missing the part that it is a commemorative. There is a little bit more to it than that. Ebay has had separate categories for these things for a long time now, and fantasy commemoratives dont go with real chips.
