I call this stuff Drivit. It is a cheap version of stucco. As I said earlier in a post, this stuff is used on nearly EVERYTHING unless it is an all glass building, like the Trump and lots of City Center. I could post pics all nite of buildings just in Vegas that use this material. It's not just big casinos but small service stations, strip malls and tons of other stuff. It is easy to work, cheaper than concrete stucco and and very lightweight, among other things. It is very durable also (unless you kick it or something).

If you look at Tarl's great pics you can see red metal studs. These were EFIS panels. These panels are delivered on the job ready to hang, painted and all. They are flown up w/ a crane and there are metal clips welded on the building that the EFIS panels attach to. After the building is finished, all you do is go back and put a type of weatherstripping in the cracks between the EFIS panels.

The EFIS panels are made up of a few layers.... There is a layer of fiberglass type sheetrock on the studs and the styrofoam is applied to that. Then this is covered by a thin layer of stucco type material. Also it can be sanded it looks like it is snowing . This is the new age of construction (well, not that new) and will be here for many more years.

If you look at my pic, the Hilton Timeshare that is in the center of the pic w/ the cranes, that building was built w/ EFIS panels. They came to the job on flatbed rigs and they were rigged up and hung on the exterior.
