I had the same thing happen to me. If you look at a post that you made around the time that the scam email was sent, I think you will see a link to your ebay auctions (showing your ebay name). The scammer just looked up what you were bidding on and made up a scam email and sent it to the email address that was on the post to the chip board. He is not very bright as he sends out the scam emails before the auction is over. My guess is that if you answered the scam email he would try to sell the ebay item through some phony site that was looking like an ebay site.
