Let's see... except for tournements, I don't play poker but I had great fun at the 21 tables at the towns along I-80 several years ago. Wendover, Elko, Winnamucca were noteable. The locals are interesting to listen to and more friendly than the tourist bozos you find in Reno. Ely is an interesting place to spend a night. No real need to hit Jackpot and SKIP Gerlach! I went to Gerlach so YOU wouldn't have to! Not worth the trip. Do Sharkey's in Gardnerville and I like Mt. Rose Hwy to access Tahoe from Reno.

Keep in mind that Nevada is high elevation and you might get snowed on in March. Have fun!
