Re: NCR: Question about fax machines

Only thing I can add, from personal experience is that you don't want a heat sensitive fax anymore, never wanted a film fax, and inkjet faxes are just asking for trouble. That leaves the Brother laser faxes, which are wonderful printers and faxes, so you can use them for both! I have the 2820 right now and they aren't expensive when you figure out that you get 2500 pages from a cartridge, they don't plug up, they aren't as expensive as color inkjets to refill. High volume printers is you compare them to other brands.

Bought a bigger multi function model for the club and two similar printers, from the same series, to replace our expensive copier rentals. Ran the heck out of them the last two years. They are all still working fine.

Yes it's B&W only, but most business pages, reports and data, aren't color anyway!

When I had line noise, it came from the incoming phone line, especially when it was humid outside. I've never had the fax itself make the noise? (but it's not impossible. It is an electronic device) Bad phones on the same line, can cause buzzing and crackling. But more often it's the incoming service that causes noise on the line.

$169 new, $100 refurbished, (Staples) and you just ended one big headache for years and years.

After going through three inkjet faxes, I finally wised up. vbg
