It is not an Ethics issue to end an eBay auction early for any reason. To begin with, this was not a club auction but an eBay auction. Second, eBay has a specific site which allows one the opportunity to end an auction early as they see fit.

It is an ethics violation when one does or says (even hypothetically in my opinion) something in contravention of the club's stated code of ethics. Cleary this was not the case here.
