The major airlines have not provided service into A.C. International Airport (10 miles away at Pomona) because of the lack of hotel rooms (currently around 25,000) in the city. When this next wave of upcoming casino development is underwqay and completed, the thinking is that additional airlines will be beating a path to A.C.'s door. Right now the largest airlines carrier serving A.C. is Spirit Airlines which has non-stop flights to Las Vegas.
BTW: I'm told that the long runway at A.C. International is listed as a back up for an emergency landing for the space shuttle should the need arise.
