The current issue of "The Numismatist" has a 3 page article on Anthony Valvo and his collection of european plaques. He also has a two page advertisement on his company formed to sell plaques. All references to the jetons and plaques call them "tokens", which is technically correct but looks odd to our collector eyes. Maybe that's an editorial decision by the author or the magazine.

The story relates his experiences in purchasing obsolete plaques and chips from european casinos, selecting the best for collectors, and destroying the rest.

This company has a web site and sells gambling items on eBay. I've bought several chips from them. Interesting ad in the magazine picturing plaques and european style chips in play at roulette and baccarat (I guess) tables. See the next post.

I don't know whether Valvo is a Club member, but he posted on this bb several times in the past year or so, showing a number of unusual plaques.
