A NCR Question for the Smartest People on the Web.

My old apprentice called me tonite and said he had an extra point question for school. I am a Union Electrician so I know what 1/0, 2/0 and etc. wire is, (that would be pronounced 1 aught, 2 aught etc). It is the size of wire. I also know what a 30-06 is ( thirty aught six) is. What I don't know is, what does aught mean. Don't say zero because I gathered that already LOL! There has to be some historical meaning behind this term. Anybody know???? Or does it just mean zero and nothing else? Roy Klein this would be a good one for u............ grin
