Re: Are there Apache Chips?
In Response To: Re: Are there Apache Chips? ()

Hi Pam, The Taylor & Co. chips were once thought to possibly be from the Apache Hotel (See Below).

The attached chip below ($10.00 Reverse Side) was once considered possibly being from the Apache Hotel, but we now know that it was actually from the Spokane Club, Spokane, Washington.

Comments on the chip below taken from 'Gaming Archaeology' Auction #10 Catalog. Club Mail Bid and 1994 Club Convention Auction Sale at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas (Firday, April 29, 1994).

"An interesting offering of checks that are frequently attributed to the Apache Hotel. (There was also being offered the .25 cent, off white, harp mold chip with the same Indian design hot stamp). We can not verify their origin. We have included them in the end of the Nevada section and would appreciate anyone that can provide an absolute attribution for these checks. Taylor & Co. offered both of these molds in their catalogs and the Indian hot stamp is illustrated in the catalog under the category "Special Monograms" thus implying custom designs for a specific customer."

The Black T's Mold chip was listed as condition used with an estimated value of $100.00 to $120.00.

The chip now sells for a very small fraction of the above 1994 Gaming Archaeology catalog estimation.

Best Regards, Gary
