Collect what you love...
In Response To: NEW TO HOBBY QUESTION. ()

and you won't be disappointed with the values. Chips can change value in both directions, but most chips remain fairly constant. Old Vegas chips may be more subject to substantial increase, but: (1) most won't change too quickly; and (2) if a box of chips shows up, the value can go down just as quickly. Collect it for the love of it, pay what it is worth to you, and you will always be happy with your collection. Some other locations can have valuable chips as well: Colorado, California, Small town Nevada. I collect chips from Aruba and NYC underground card club chips, as well as from all of the casinos where I have gambled. I also collect dealer buttons (not the big discs that say "dealer" but the small ones that say "small blind" "reserved" "seat change" etc.).
