Got to go with the guys on this one. If you want something small, the Canon LIDE series (70 being the newest). It takes power from the USB bus so there's only one cable from the computer. And its thin (comparatively).

I suspect it would not be that great with the florescent colors but you should at least give it a try. You wanted small, and in scanners you have your choice of "small" or "good"... pick one...

its got good specs (48-bit color depth) so it might be OK with the colors, but haven't tried it. Worse case, use the Fry's return policy...
