Chip show wasn't private, Mark. Anyone could attend. Mel worked with or for Reliable and the predecessor company, Royce 600 I believe. The Trocadero chips were made at the request of Mel and Armin to honor the show held at the old Trocadero. They were sold at the dealer tables. I believe anyone could have ordered chips like these with any name they wanted on them.
