knowledge of that sort can fade

History has shown that knowledge has not faded, but in fact has expanded exponentially.

Nine years ago, Bill Akeman had boxes of Borland chips for sale in his Gaming Times retail store. I didn't count the number of different chips he had (they were for sale individually or you could buy a whole box of any chip), but I'd guess there were 30 different chips available at $2-$3 a piece. At the time, there were maybe 60 different Borland chips known to exist. Today over 700 have been identified, and that is without the active cooperation of Borland.

We have the active cooperation of the guys re-manufacturing brass core chips. That makes it much easier to keep the knowledge fresh and up to date.
