Re: You forgot the Ace of spades...

AHAH! The age old question, Pam; ..."What are they worth?"

That's what I'm still trying to figure out! I did a 63 casino deck trade with another card collector just before the 2006 convention on a one-deck-for-one-deck basis. I'm sure that he got some good card decks from me and I'm equally sure that I got some good decks from him in return. I have no idea who got the best deal ... which is what makes for a good deal, when both parties are satisfied.

It reminded me of my early chip collecting days when the late Bruce Landau used to tell me stories where he would trade chips with other old-time collectors by the stack on a kitchen table. No regard was made for denominations or values (this was before any chip catalogs were published). Even stacks for even stacks was the basis of those early trades.

I vividly recall when Al Zaika purchased a large chip collection from a widow of a deceased Florida chip collector, Andy Gazi, back in the early to mid-1980's and I had first crack at the collection at Al's house a week before the annual NJ Token & Medal Show. I purchased several hundred $3 and $5 individually priced chips back then that one chip would probably cost hundreds of dollars at todays price.

I've also picked up some great card deals from my dear friend Janice O'Neal while we were out at the past two CC & GTCC conventions in Las Vegas.

"What's it worth...?" Nobody knows! The only published catalog on the subject of Nevada cards that I know of does not give value estimates ... which is too bad. That's the beauty of collecting card decks. Having said that ... I saw a deck of Brighton Casino cards from Atlantic City in a dealer's showcase during the 2006 CC & GTCC convention. Price; $400!! Go figure...

If anyone would like to trade casino card decks with me ... simply send an email requesting my ILLUSTRATED trade list of hundreds of duplicate decks.

**BTW: Brenda specializes in collecting commercial product advertising card decks such as cigarette brands and cruise ships and airlines. We've got them to trade as well.
