I dislike reserve auctions so I am probably not the person to advise you. I hate to spend the time to monitor an auction that I don't have a chance to win. I'm too cheap to pay for a sniping service so I have to do it manually. The only argument I would have for not telling someone the reserve is that it gives them information that is not available to all bidders - just add it to the description if you decide to make the reserve known.

The good thing is, its your auction and you can do it the way you want!

I saw a funny quote about eBay -
