A Washington State Gaming Question....

On an other BBS a poster asked if there is some sort of Washington State gaming regulation that prohibits the possession of gaming chips that are/were used in Washington State gaming locations?

The question was asked because the poster saw an eBay auction for chips that also had this warning from the seller:

"******Warning****** If you live in the state of Washington "YOU CAN NOT BID ON THIS AUCTION I OFFER FOR SALE" I clearly state below the reasons why!!!!! "FACTS" ARE YOU COULD GO TO JAIL IF YOU OWN THIS SET OF CHIPS AND HAVE AN ADDRESS WITHIN WASHINGTON STATE.

Washington State Gambling Commission states that according to WA. Admin. Code (WAC) logo chips are defined as gambling equipment and in the state of Washington can only be possessed by licensed persons. Possession by unlicensed persons in that state is subject to search and seizure and could lead to criminal charges, according to WAC 230-12-335."

I do not know which auction it was, nor do I know if the chips offered were even from Washington State or another gaming jurisdiction.

I can imagine such a regulation being valid; in an effort to curb illegal gaming. However, I doubt it would have applicability on collecting.

Comments please...
