Even bad chip repair jobs can fool you

I don't follow Washington state chips, but I doubt the chip below would be worth more than a buck in unrepaired condition, being as worn as it is. However, I wanted to post this picture to illustrate a point.

I was listing some chips for sale when I noticed the repaired break, which is pretty obvious with the magnification shown below. But, without the magnification I had never noticed the crack before. I don't remember where I got it or what I paid (maybe in some dealer's junk box?), but until I really looked at it closely I never noticed the repair. And, the repair job was a pretty sloppy one. When you hold the chip to the light you can see light bouncing off of excess glue around the crack.

Sort of makes me wonder what else I have in my collection that I haven't noticed. This one's going in the trash, where it belongs.
