Are you concerned with the terminology of "error" vs "variety", Pete? I agree the coin inlays in question are not errors, but the resulting chip certainly comes in different varieties. Although you may not choose to collect all of them, I believe there is a significant number of collectors who do.

I don't go after all the colors of the A/C chips that Archie catalogs, but I believe he's doing a service to others by listing all the colors he believes are different.
