I think Other and Worried were in Las Vegas for a fun time. One night they watched the movie "The Lady Gambles", starring Barbara Stanwyck as Joan Boothe.

It's her first time in Las Vegas, and Joan has a lot of fun when she first learns to gamble, then she becomes addicted. She lies, cheats and steals to continue gambling...her marriage and life are ruined. At one point in the movie, when she's with her sister, Joan utters the line "I find I don't care for gambling, much. It's noisy and confusing, and just a little dirty." (o.k., I didn't look it up...but that's pretty close to what she said...)

now, back to your pictures....

When they first arrive in town, Worried and Other are both having a great time playing the slot machines. THEN they see the movie. Worried is afraid that they're both enjoying gambling a little toooo much...that's the conversation we see in the picture. Other assures her that they can't become addicted gamblers if they just stick to the nickle slots. Worried leaves, and Other is happy that she can go back to mindlessly feeding the one armed bandit...

When the trip is over, Worried and Other return home. They tell sister Lola about the wonderful time they had. Lola is sorry that she didn't go with them, so she plans a trip for the following year. I think she might have met a "sugar daddy" on her way to town...

I saw that auction, and meant to bid on it... if I'd noticed the Birdcage, I'd have been SURE to bid . Oh well...
