Eating Inexpensively at the Convention

In response to Steven Kidd's earlier post, here are a few suggestions for saving some money on dining.
1. For a pretty good list of coupon books, check out www.lasvegasadvisor.com There are also some restaurant reviews. Check out the list of top 10 values. Members can download ecoupons which are frequently updated. The excellent Pocket Book of Values is available with a $50 subscription They are local and close to the Rio, just off Twain.
2. The American Casino Guide, suggested by someone else, has a number of coupons for Las Vegas as well as other gaming areas. It is discounted at Amazon.
3. The Entertainment Book just sent me a discount offer of $10 for the Vegas issue, good until November.
4. ESPN Zone is offering a $20 gift certificate for joining their MVP Club.A ggod place to eat and there are 137 televisions, including one over each urinal.
5. Check all the free magazines available at front desks and concierge desks. Often discounts for dining and shows are offered.
6. According to the LV Advisor July issue, the Hound Doggies snack bar at the Riviera is offering all items at 99 cents each. Available are gumbo, chicken wings, a chicken sandwich, a meatball sandwich, sliders and shrimp cocktail. Visit the promotions booth and get a wooden nickel good for a free beer, margarita or soft drink.
7. Ellis Island as well as a number of casinos offer specials round the clock, like steaks and prime rib for under $10, often under $6. IMHO, Ellis Island has the best hamburger in town at $4.99.
8. Try some of the video poker bars like PTs, Village Pub, Magoos and the Irish chain which has a different name for each location. Sean Patrick's, acroos from the DMV on West Falingo, is outsatanding.
9. Joey's Only, two locations, has all you can eat fish and chips. $6.99 every Tuesday.
10. Arozona Charlie's Sourdough Cafe serves an array of inexpensive meals and a too much for one person ham steak, eggs, hash browns and toast for $2.49. The ham steak is so large that it virtuallly covers the plate, causing the eggs are served on top of the ham steak.
11. Don't forget Golden Gate and its Bay City Diner. There is the famous 99 cent shrimp cocktail but for 2.99 you get an ice cream sundae glass with about 25 medium size shrimp.
12. Finally, for a meal in itself, try Westward Ho's $1.49 3/4 hot dog.
Bon appetit.
