A Visit To Northern Michigan Casinos

Hi all....I just returned from a 4 day visit through Northern Michigan visiting some of the Indian Casinos there.

This trip was to Turtle Creek, Leelanau Sands and Little River Casinos.

Both Leelanau Sands and Turtle Creek in the Traverse City area are using the chipco chips from "Traverse Bay Casinos" The 0.50 chips look like they were just put out. The below scans are from my database stock, and not of the new chips I just picked up.

As expected, the cage wouldn't sell me any chips. I was told they were only bought at the tables, with no exceptions.

Turtle Creek Casino had a promotion going on while I was there featuring the Survivor 5 people. There were 12 different "Survivor" contestants (even "Scout" was there. They were giving away yellow bandanas with the Survivor logo, and all of the Survivors were giving autographs and talking about the experiences they had. They were all really personable, and never came off that this was anything but a lot of fun for them. They were given celebrity status by all of the casino patrons, who were acting very much like they were meeting Humphrey Bogard and Elizabeth Taylor.

I visited Leelanau Sands Casino at lunchtime, and thought it would be a good deal to check out the lunch buffet. The price was great: $4.95 !! Unfortunately, it consisted of these items:

~ Hot Dogs (of the undercooked variety)
~ Deep Fried Fish Sticks (of the unknown variety)
~ Mashed Potatoes (of the powdered variety)
~ Mixed vegatables (of the canned variety)

Little River Casino was still using the same chips (below) and were in pretty nice shape. The casino was quite nice. It was clean, busy and every one of the staff I spoke with was very nice. Lots of new slot machines and the tables all looked like they had been recently recieved new layouts.
