David, bad assumption....

I recognize that it is sometimes confusing, however, the Museum and the gift shop were two different entities, owned and operated by two different concerns at the time of the "find" and since that time.

Steve Cutler had the Museum (which is now gone from there), while Rich Burgel has the gift shop, which still remains.

The chip on eBay (and the two others associated to this find) was never in the museum and therefore would not have gone through some sort of "origin/validity" vetting by "the museum" staff, curator, and/or owner.

To my way of thinking, any and all questions pertaining to this chip are better served being directed to "Nevadamint", whom I believe is Rich Burgel.
