Re: APACHE CASINO CHIP

Good Afternoon Rich,
In my opinion when one examines a chip for authenticity the following should be done:

1) If the records are available they should be checked for verification. T.R. King is but a phone call away. I'll bet T.R. King made the dam chip. They can and will make any chip if the casino is closed and no chips were EVER ordered from them.

2) C.T's discussion of wear is extremely on point. The wear involving the chip is not even. Just look at it closely. You can see the wear is uneven.

3) Downtown casinos during the 30's & 40's very rarely used chips let alone roulette chips. The few exceptions like the Las Vegas Club are far and few between.

4) The blue should have faded and been much lighter than it currently is.

5) The gold foil is too light for the period. Most gold foil used during that period is darker and tends to have a more grainy appearance.

Based upon the above statements I personally would not purchase this chip. I must also add that the possibility exsists that the chip is real but I would not take a chance for that much money grin.

Finally, be careful - learn all you can before you start putting out 4 figures for a chip.
