My view of the situation (probably flawed) is this:

Once payment has been received, ownership of the property being sold transfers from seller to buyer.

If the buyer and seller agree to ship by USPS, the seller's responsibility ends when the property is mailed.

If the buyer doen't trust USPS to deliver the goods, it is his responsibilty to request and pay for insurance.
