Re: Im watching this one with interest

Howdy,

Once again I'll be there with you on the ship (see another post)...

Anyway, I play live low limit and when I won my first tournament I was so frazzeled that I forgot to tip. I remembered a few minutes later (3 minutes?) and tipped them.

Back to ring games/live: Most people tip a $1 per pot won...some more...some not at all. Frankly, if the pot is less than about $10 I skip it.

Consider that a good dealer can dish out about 20+ hands per hour and some even more with the new auto shufflers; that isn't too bad on top of their base pay.

Other things that come under consideration are how much the house takes in the rake and if they have Player Supported Jackpots(PSJ).

Today, I see around a $3 max per pot on the rake, but when you throw in another $1 per pot no matter how big it is for the PSJ you're down $4 per pot on a normal low limit game.

20 hands per hour x $4 per pot = $80 leaving the table never to return (Unless you get lucky with a jackpot).

I oppose PSJ, but that is a discussion for another day. I will say this about it and this isn't the only reason I oppose them...

I was playing a 3/6 game and was the SB. I raised when it came to me and the BB folded. Ok...my $1 SB + His $3 BB -$1 Rake -$1 PSJ

1+3-1-1=2

I won the hand and received less than I even put in.

Now before the rebutal comes...yes, I raised and that money was 'technically' in the pot, but...
