A very strange chip story...

I have always been skeptical of information that was given to me by your average casino employeed, because over the years I have learned that if you ask the same chip question to 5 different employees, you are likely to get at least 5 different answers. grin When I say this, I don't intend to put down casino employees. It just seems that there is not a lot of information shared within different departments of a casino.

A couple days ago I got an email from a marketing person at the Tonkawa Casino in Tonkawa, OK. The email was vague, but he wanted to talk to me about my chips. I gave him a call that afternoon to find out what I could do for him. He mentioned that he had seen my chips for sale and had noticed the ones for their casino. He then mentioned that I shouldn't worry, I wasn't in trouble or anything, they were glad I was selling chips advertising their casino.

He went on to say that they were going to have some kind of promotion and they came up with the idea of giving away souvenir chips as prizes for the people that signed up. Then he said that they would like to buy a quantity of my Tonkawa Casino chips to use in this promotion. As you can imagine, I am having a hard time following just what exactly he is talking about. I can't figure out why he wants to buy them from me when they surely must have a vault full of them.

After a little more confusion, I finally learn what was going on. A couple years ago, the NIGC shut down all that type of gambling in Oklahoma and for the last couple years, they have all been slots only. None of the people at the casino now knew anything about the chips that they used to have. This marketing guy thought that I was manufacturing these chips myself and selling them and he wanted to buy them!!! He was totally surprised when I told him that those chips came right off the tables in his casino.

Not only was I surprised that they didn't already know about their own chips, I was blown away by the fact that they didn't care if I was manufacturing them myself and selling them to others!!! grin
