S. S. Monte Carlo chip peculiarity...

Scanned is a S.S. Monte Carlo (California off-shore gaming boat). Please note the stamped letters appearing on both sides of this yellow, hub-mold chip. The left image has the letter "E" stamped (in red) twice to the left of the center hot-stamp (the lower one being a poor stamping). The letter "V" is stamped (also in red) to the right of the center hot-stamp.

The "V" is repeated on the other side, as is one instance of the letter "E". It appears that a hot-stamp process was not used for the added letters, but instead they appear to be struck with a lettering tool.

So my question is... Does anyone have any idea why this lettering has been added and what it means? I have a green version of this same chip and there is no additional stamping present.

Thanks for looking.

Jim
