Banjo, Appearently you have no idea of the weird things that CAN and DO happen in this hobby. There was the time when a VERY INFORMED club member went to the Tropicana to get a $25 rodeo chip off the table. While playing he asked for the green $25 chip, receive it, put it in his pocket. SO when he got back to his hotel room to look over his chips, what did he find.

Every day there is some new person, and some even not so new, buying the Borland dated chips thinking they are real casino chips. I find fault with the people SELLING them and see nothing wrong with using this BB as a constant warning against these type of sales.
Another true story. In the good old days before computer and message boards when I was club historian. I received several letters with hard to answer questions. One in particular, was a club member traveling through a southern state stopping at antique shops looking for chips. He paid GOOD money for a chip that was preported to be from an Indian casino in that state that never opened and wanted me to give him a value on it. Number one there are not, and never have been any Indian casinos in that state. Number two it had NO casino name on it and it was one of the Paulson fantasy Indian chief chips that were readily available at the Paulson stores for 65 cents each. I hated answering letters like that when I had to tell the person what he had bought. Now with all the information available on these computer sites it is a little less likely that can happen, but it still does and I, for one, am quite happy every time I see a post where some "do-gooder" ( in your words) posts warnings of these chips and others like them being put up for sale with less than honest representation.
Gee haven't been on my soap box for a while, guess it is now time to put it away again.
