If they were worth alot of money I would scan them in the Near IR spectrum. Once Identified, they could be subtracted from the see/chip, and the pixel assignment could be changed(color) in the Digal Number db.

I think my solution is not pratical for a new low value chip.

Light emitting or self luminescent material is a problem. I'll check with the optics department tomorrow.
