My only basis for cost of chips is the 'home' sets I've seen advertised on ebay.

If the casinos are paying $1+ per chip, then the economics of 'selling' chips for $.25/.50 is even more skewed.

IMHO the 'advertising value' of chips sold to collectors is minimal at best. %99 wind up in a box or a binder and are seldom seen again.
