A Knuckle Weighs a Lot!
In Response To: Re: 5 Knucles? ()

Yep..Means a 100 car train is broken into 6 pieces. The result is that it takes many hours to put it back together (lots of different union jobs are involved) and half of the yard it is coming out of is blocked. Nothing in or out...

Not as bad as when my engineer and foreman sideways rammed stationary boxcars going about 40 in a switch engine. They forgot that they had gone through a crossover (track), weren't paying attention on the return trip, as well as exceeding the 10mph speed limit. Big trouble for them. A switch engine weighs about 200 tons and has ~2" thick steel in the front. Everything was a mangled mess.

OR that time that a container car jumped the tracks and dug in just before it hit the shack I was in..Lots of fun. Maybe its why I got into the computer business.
