Believe me, I don't fault Delta for cancelling the flight if it was for a acceptable reason. The last thing I, or anyone else would want would be do take off in a plane that needs servicing. However, it is not acceptable to cancel flights because the airline doesn't have enough crew. This has happened to me many times over my years of traveling.

Granted I should have carried my camera onto the plane with me, HOWEVER...my checking the camera doesn't not put the blame on me. The fact that one of their people went into my bag and stole my personal belongings can not be excused. The main issue I have is that Delta would not allow me to have my luggage while staying over night. There is no acceptable excuse for this. Had they given me my bag, I would still have my camera today. But instead, they refused to give it to me, which not only resulted in the bag being left over night somewhere, but I was put out by not having clean clothing, my razor, toothbrush and other sundry items. It was more important to them to not have to deal with it, then to make my travel less inconvenient.

Fault with the carrier?? I think absolutely. A defense that the theft of my belongings was my own fault for having it there in the first place doesn't make it. It was mine. It was stolen by their employees. Cut and dried. They refused to return my bag to me, when everyone else on the plane coming in from vegas was given theirs. Once Delta knew the flight was canceled and I was to stay the night in Cincinatti, they should have returned my belongings to me. Especially since I was asking for it. By keeping the bag, they had a responsibility to keep it safe. Cut and dried.

Does that really sound like they "did right by me all the way around"?
